Free Range Chicken
All of our chickens, whether for meat or for eggs, are raised in large pens on fresh green grass. They are also fed a locally grown, GMO free, grain feed. We feel the green grass, sunshine and minimally processed feed gives both the eggs and meat a wonderful flavor and fresh taste.
Rhode Island Red Laying Hens
We use Rhode Island Red hens for our egg production. These beautiful auburn birds produce large brown eggs with wonderful dark yellow yolks.
Freedom Ranger Meat Chickens
For our primary meat bird production we offer freedom ranger chickens. This three way hybrid is based on the French "poulet rouge" They are especially adapted for grazing and take longer to grow than the industry standard Cornish rock cross. The "slow grow" culture produces a more tender and succulent meat. You will find the flavor of these birds beyond compare.
Standard Cornish Rock Cross Meat Chickens
We also use standard Cornish rock cross meat chickens. These birds grow quickly and produce large juicy breasts. We raise them side by side with our freedom rangers and heritage breed turkeys. We have found that their foster flockmates teach them how to graze better.
Availability
For the best comfort of the birds we only raise them in late spring and early fall. Place your orders now for birds available the beginning of June or beginning of October. Through out the summer we do offer frozen birds by the whole, half or quarter as available. We welcome custom flock orders to fill your freezer for summer grilling season or the winter.
